Where to Go Fishing in Bandon, Oregon
Deep sea charters, fishing in the Coquille River, visit a local lake or toss a line from the surf - plenty of fishing opportunities abound in and around Bandon.
Favorite activities include river fishing, crabbing, or deep sea fishing. The Coquille River flows along Bandon and out to the ocean. The river has a short season for harvesting wild coho salmon. Both wild and hatchery Chinook salmon are also caught. There is a public boat launch at
The Crabbing docks in Old Town Bandon offer one of the few places along the coast that frequently has good crabbing for those that do not have access to a boat.

Coquille River Fishing
Stripedbass congregate in tidewater of the Coquille River in the late spring to spawn. The striper bite usually slows down during the spawning period in late May and early June, but picks up again post-spawning. Surfperch anglers occasionally catch striped bass in the surf in early spring. The minimum length for harvesting striped bass is 24 inches. Steelhead fishing in the Coquille basin continues through April in waters open to this species, however the winter steelhead run is winding down and many of them will be “kelts” migrating downstream after spawning. Adipose fin-clipped steelhead may be harvested in these basins during the open season.
Bullard's Beach State Park
Bullards State Park is located two miles north of Bandon, OR, and features campsites, 13 yurts, and year-round camping. The horse camp has access to the beach and dunes.
Bullards Beach State Park features fishing and crabbing opportunities and boat launch facilities on the Coquille River.
Within the park is the Coquille River Lighthouse which runs tours and displays lighthouse exhibits.
Between March and May and again in the fall, visitors may observe migrating gray whales as they travel up and down the Oregon coast.

Bandon Crabbing
The Bandon high dock is a favorite place for crabbing and fishing. Rent a crab cage for 1/2 day or all day costing approximately $8.00 to $10.00 a day. Dungeness crab, thought by many to be among the sea's finest delicacies, is thick in this area from midsummer to late fall, and available most of the rest of the year (commercial crabbing is closed Aug. 15 to Nov. 30). Catch crabs right off the large docks which extends into the mouth of the harbor so you get a feeling of being out on the bay. The Bandon Crab Derby is held every year in July and August. Catch the marked crabs and win cash and prizes up to $1,000.
