Camping on the Southern Oregon Coast
There are at least 32 public campgrounds and many more private facilities along the south coast, from Reesport to Crescent City, California. Some are located near the beach with views of the Pacific Ocean while others are located further inland or up one of the many Wild and Scenic Rivers.
The southern coast is less crowded, so visit and enjoy the serenity, the spectacular views, the wide open beaches and natural beauty.
The campgrounds to the north are located in or near the Oregon Dunes Recreation Area. Many of these campgrounds are oriented towards ATV / dune buggy activities and can be quite noisy, so choose carefully.
Coos Bay - Charleston
Camping is available to the north in the vast Oregon Dunes National Park. Or travel to the west and south to visit the beaches and cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean near Charleston for the many excellent County or State Parks. While the Dunes are oriented towards ATVs and Dune Buggies, there are several camps that are set up exclusively for horses or quiet tent camping. Some of those are near freshwater lakes. Gold Beach - Port Orford
Camp on a beach next to the Pacific Ocean, along the wild and scenic Rogue River, near a lighthouse, or in the middle of the Siskiyou National Forest. There are State Parks, Forest Service facilities and privately run campgrounds to spend your vacation. Choose from those with all the amenities, or rough it. There are several campgrounds where you can camp among these redwood giants that are thousands of years old.
