Equestrians travel to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation area because it is horse friendly for camping. There is a campground set aside especially for horses and trails especially for riding your horse.

Visitors Center

The Oregon Dunes Information Center has visitor information, interpretive exhibits and an introductory video. Helpful guides can answer questions about camping, hiking, sightseeing, fishing, ATV - dunebuggy riding, and RV parks.
The Oregon Dunes Information Center is located in Reedsport on Route 101, 855 Highway Avenue

Wild Mare Horse Camp

Wild Mare Horse Camp activities include dune & beach access for horseback riding and camping. Day use area nearby is for picnicking and horse back riding for small groups. Hitching post and corrals are also available. Coin operated showers are located at nearby Horsfall campground.

Nearby is the Wildmare Horse Trail, a 1 mile trail to the beach. While nearby campgrounds are oriented towards ATV activities, Wild Mare Horse Camp is located in the dunes area that is closed to motor vehicles and is appropriate for horses and riding. Reservations are available online.

The campground located in shorepine, Douglas-fir and huckleberry, is ½ mile from the Pacific Ocean and beach and is a popular place to horseback riding.

Wild Mare Horse Camp is located in the famous Oregon Dunes Recreation Area between Coos Bay / North Bend and Reedsport.
Directions: From Coos Bay / North Bend, proceed north on route 101 for 1.5 miles. From Reedsport, proceed south for 22 miles. Turn west at the Horsfall Dunes and Beach road sign at Jordan Cove Road and proceed 1 mile, turning right on Transpacific Highway. Travel 100 feet, turning right on Horsfall Beach Road. Travel 1 & 1/2 miles down Horsfall Beach Road to a left turn.
